Final Reflection Over Blogs

I think blogging is similar to writing in a journal. At least that's how I treated it in a way. I think that keeping some sort of personal blog might be something that I will do. I do not think I necessarily want to create a blog that others are intended to read, since I prefer to write about a multitude of things. I do not want to be stuck on one thing or a set of things. The process for most of my blogs involved thinking about a topic that particularly interested me at the moment or something that I was already passionate about for a while now. Other than that, I usually wrote most blogs without a set plan in mind. I knew the topic and I just started writing until I felt as though I wrote enough for the blog.  If you continue to teach this class, I would very much recommend to keep doing this blog assignment. I think it can help people express themselves in writing in a unique way, that is similar to a journal like I said before, that can get people to write about things th...

Thanksgiving Post!

I wanted to make a Thanksgiving post, since it is coming up soon. I know in the past few years my family and I haven't been able to celebrate Thanksgiving like we used to because of COVID-19, but I think this year will be different. At least I hope so. I haven't been given a confirmation for yes or no, but I will remain hopeful. I mainly want to go to eat some Thanksgiving food, since I haven't had any in years.  Of course I am thankful of all the things I have. Being able to live in the United States alone is a blessing for me, especially since I was born here. This place is immensely better than Mexico in terms of living conditions and safety, although Mexico is still a nice place to live in for a tiny bit. The lack of easy access to Internet, some of the buildings/structures/roads/walkways seemingly being a poor state of repair, and a whole slew of other things bring Mexico down a bit in me wanting to live there permanently. Definitely a nice place to visit especially s...

Anime Talk

I have spent some time watching more anime recently when I can with the free time available to me. I think that most, if not all, of the anime I have watched have been pretty good. Some of them do things that I do not particularly enjoy. Some of this being something called "fan service". Where there are some unnecessary scenes that do not provide much to the story at all. This I think is something that should be removed from most anime, since animation costs a lot to produce. Some anime only get a certain number of episodes per season and therefore, have only a limited time to spend on the story that is being adapted from manga to an anime. Seeing still images come to life in not only animation, but color does a lot to the viewing experience. I understand that some things need to get cut because one reason or another, but I do feel as though including more content that is not contained in the source material is something that should not be done. A lot of anime feels too shor...

Learning How to Use a Map Making Tool

Image
For my ENG 281 project I intend to use a game called Garry's Mod . I intend to use some mods created by other people for this project, but I want the map to be created by me. That is why I am spending some time here to try to quickly learn the map making tool known as "Hammer". The game and this map making tool use " Source ", which is a game engine created by Valve . It is fairly old but still used by a lot of people who make maps for a bunch of Valve's games or games that use the Source engine. So far it has been pretty fun messing around with it because I am further learning how games work. I already had knowledge of a map making tool and other things like that existing but actually using one has further increased my knowledge and understanding of it more.  There is a new and updated version of Hammer known as Hammer++, which I have switched to because it is exactly like the original Hammer but with a bunch of quality-of-life improvements.  I'm going...

The Infographic I Made!

Image
Below is the infographic I recently made over the use of technology in music.  Some of the things that I could have done better - or at least what I think I could have done better - is possibly using a different color palette than the one I ended up using. I chose this black, white, and grey palette because those are the colors - shades technically - of most electronic equipment in this day and age. This kind of ended up being not so eye catching though. I am not entirely certain of what other colors I could have used that related to what I was trying to cover in my infographic.  I could have also tried to format everything a bit more differently or maybe included dates for the things I was talking about. I did not have completely concrete information on when certain things happened so I did not want to put dates that were wrong, but I think it would have helped this infographic appear more like a timeline than how it currently does. Other than that, I am fairly happy wi...

Another Not So Spooky Post

I wanted to use this post as a way to make known the usefulness of a whiteboard that looks like a calendar. The ability to make note of important dates - specifically for homework - has helped me a bit in managing some of the workload I have in my classes. At the time of writing, I am behind on a few assignments. I am hopeful though that with this whiteboard, I will be able to better keep track of due dates for assignments and events. I used to have a calendar that I used for such purposes, but I never got a new one for the following year.  I will make sure to use this whiteboard to write up stuff that is coming up and make note of it. I can also use color coded markers to help me remember what class things are for without having to write an entire sentence on the whiteboard.  The use of sticky notes could also help me remember things that require more detail than just a few key words. I have made use of it already and it has somewhat helped me, but like I said earlier, ...

Not So Spooky Post

In this post, I want to talk about the use of mods in video games, since I have been recently messing around with a specific one for Minecraft .  This mod is called Prominence II RPG: Hasturian Era . It is technically a pack that contains a multitude of mods made by different creators in the modding scene for Minecraft.  It contains so many things and changes a lot of the fundamentals of Minecraft, while also keeping its general identity. It incorporates quality of life changes not seen in the base version of the game. It adds new content for players to mess around with.  Some of these new things are: - Entire sets of weapons, armor, and shields. All of which can be made with different materials found in the game.  - It includes new crafting recipes for existing items, which makes it easier to acquire almost everything in the game because of the multiple ways to make stuff now. - There are new creatures in the game - referred to as "mobs" - that are friendly. T...
